The Rhodope Mountains are home to some of the most beautiful and atmospheric places in Bulgaria. Green plains in unimaginably vibrant hues of green that rhyme with the dark colors of the evegreen forests, rocky cliffs and picturesque canyons. A destination that holds new character and new oddities to discover with every season of the year, the Rhodopes are truly versatile in their breathtaking landscapes.
Aside from harboring all of the this natural beauty, the Rhodopes are guardian to another such treasure - the expression of one's faith as well as the spirit of Bulgarians over the centuries, both manifesting in the form of chapels. This is why we will have the chance to visit both the "St. Marina" (1840) and the "St. Bogoroditsa" (1840) chapels.
We will set up lunch as a picnic under the thick shadow of an ancient pine tree, which is protected and in close proximity to "St. Marina" chapel.
