 Description

Day 1

Trip to Brashlyan village, Strandzha Nature Park and a walk around the village after dinner.

Day 2

Trip to the coast via Yasna polyana village (stop for White stork photographs) and Primorsko for Alepu and Ropotamo wetlands looking for White stork, herons, swans, Pygmy cormorant, and forests for Lesser spotted eagle, Semi-collared flycatcher and woodpeckers. We may have an additional walk around Brashlyan in the evening once back from the coast.

Day 3

Travelling from Brashlyan to Srem village. Stop at Mandra Lake near Bourgas looking for pelicans, waterfowl and White-tailed eagle. Stops at Western Strandzha oak-grassland mosaic, and Tundzha River – looking for Imperial, Booted and Short-toed eagles, Roller, Hoopoe, shrikes, buntings, Calandra lark, Wheatears, herons, warblers, etc.

Day 4

Travelling south along Tundzha River crossing Sakar mountain looking for Imperial and Lesser spotted eagle, warblers, shrikes and stopping to Levka village for Lesser kestrels. Then stop at Maritsa river for Levant sparrow hawk, Rollers, Orioles, Little ringed plovers. Reaching Arda river in the evening at the Eastern Rhodopes for Griffon and Egyptian vultures, Ruddy shelduck.

Day 5

Trip to Studen kladenets reservoir for vultures (Griffon and Egyptian, Black with some luck) with stops at Krumovitsa River and Nanovska River for warblers, tits, buntings, wagtails, Black stork, herons, Wheatears, Stonechats, Short-toed and Booted eagle.

Day 6

Trip from Arda River to Pomorie with stops at Madzharovo for Rock nuthatch, Rock bunting, Blue Rock Thrush. Walks along Maritsa River and Sakar mountain for woods, shrubs and grassland. Looking for Black kite, Montagu’s harrier, Hobby, Kingfisher, Roller, Orioles, warblers, larks and buntings. Reaching Pomorie for dinner.

Day 7

Trip around Pomorie Lake for terns, avocets, waders, Black-headed and Mediterranean gulls, Collared pratincole, Shelduck. Visit to Vaya Lake for pelicans, reed warblers, bearded tits, great crested grebes. Stop at Atanasovko Lake for waders, terns, avocets, pelicans.

Day 8

Departure - packed breakfast will be provided the night before.
